Twin Liquors responds to a search of company headquarters on April 23, 2013

"Twin Liquors is family-owned and operated and has been an active part of the Austin community since the late 1800s. We are the third generation to manage this company, which was built upon honesty and integrity.

Although we haven't been told the reason for this investigation, we are cooperating fully with the agencies involved. We are handling this matter with transparency, respect for the agencies and confidence that this will come to an acceptable resolution.

Bottled Passion

As often happens, small events change the course of our lives. For me, a casual wine drinker, always in search of that next great wine, it was a chance encounter at a wine tasting at the old Brio Vista. As much a social gathering as a wine tasting, I became a “regular” there and through one of the other regulars got invited to volunteer at a Grape Stomp out at Becker Vineyards. At the end of the two-weekend run, I was forever changed.

During my five-year-long connection with Becker, in the tasting room most weekends and representing Becker at countless public and private events I realized that my heart and soul would forever be connected to this world.  Having a loving and very understanding wife allowed me to abandon a lifelong career and plunge into a new career at fifty years old. That passion drew me to Twin Liquors, an Austin born fine wine and spirits purveyor that attracts passionate wine people like one magnet to another.

Gluten Free at Twins

The first time your doctor says those words-gluten free- can be a moment of panic and dismay. What all will you have to give up, how difficult will this be? The introduction to the gluten-free lifestyle is a challenge. Learning to read labels, foregoing so many favorite foods and restaurants, finding out just how prevalent gluten is in our everyday lives. Whether Celiac, gluten-intolerant or otherwise, this is a learning process. My own began about eight months ago, after five years of illness and near disability. As difficult as it seemed at times to make the transition, I can look at it now as one of the most wonderful transformative moments of my life.
