Joe Kidd experienced his first epiphany with fine wine as a college student in Boston. Considering the force of his new passion, he did the only reasonable thing—he packed up and returned to his native Northern California to pursue a degree in Enology and Viticulture at UC Davis. He supplemented his classroom education at Davis with agricultural research and winery internships.

With a strong background established, Joe joined the winemaking team at Duckhorn Vineyards in 1998 as an enologist. In 2000, he left Duckhorn to work as consulting winemaker at Kingston Estate Wines in Australia.  

In 2005, Joe became winemaker for Sterling Vintner’s Collection, the highly successful Central Coast wines produced by Sterling Vineyards and anchored by the 1300-acre Paris Valley Ranch near Monterey. Joe continues to be excited and challenged by the quality and range of fruit available to him and the potential of this rapidly growing brand.
