Billy Gibbons Visits Twin Liquors to promote Pura Vida Tequila

Gibbons with the Twin Liquors TeamWhat do Billy Gibbons and Charlie Sexton have in common? Guitars yes, but they are also investors in Pura Vida Tequila. In a day and age when celebrity endorsements of spirit products are growing, you have to wonder if it’s just about the money, or if they actually believe in the product they are selling. Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the day with Billy Gibbons and trust me, he believes in Pura Vida.

Umlauf Garden Party

The rain was coming down hard at 430pm, and then-like the Umlauf sculpture gods were smiling upon us-it stopped at exactly 530pm…just in time for VIP. The party commenced. The specialty cocktail was imbibed and the yummy Whole Foods bites were consumed!

This year the Garden Party went totally green. Every single thing was to be recycled or reused-from composting all the food, to using real glassware to be washed, to recycling the wine bottles. And boy, were there wine bottles! Twin Liquors sent 30 cases of wine to this spring party, and I know that by the time the event concluded it was probably almost all gone. This year we focused on “something for everyone”. Rather than take an approach of trying to theme the wines by region or grape, we focused on flavor, so we had everything from dry to sweet, from fruity to austere, from lean to full bodied. We also included a lovely array of some dessert wines and of course some great sparkling too! (see below for a list of wines served)

Twin Tasting at Art on Fifth

Art on Fifth

Art on Fifth has been celebrating their 10 year anniversary for the month of April with parties and Twin hosted wine tastings with proceeds benefiting Mobile Loaves and Fishes. Last night was the last of the celebratory events...a little lean in attendance, but that just meant more wine for us, as well as more food from Joe DiMaggio's. If you haven't been to Joe D's in the Domain...their Patio is fantastic.

Please check out the list of wines we poured, all of which are available at most Twin Liquors. The favorites of the night were Black Beret and Red Guitar. Cheers!

PIPER SONOMA BRUT  $16.99
LA NOBLE CHARD   $8.99
COLUMBIA CREST WHITE 10  $8.99
BLACK BERETGRENACHE/SYRAH $9.99
RED GUITAR NAVARRA OLD VINE $10.99
GRAFFIGNA MALBEC  $12.99

A Bronx-tail...

Okay, okay, so this time the whole night wasn't about eating and drinking! This time it was about the amazing Chaz Palminteri staring in the one-man Broadway show A Bronx Tale. The Long Center packed the house last night (9/3) with the opening night of this fantastic show. It was 90 minutes of non-stop Chaz...I mean he didn't even take a sip of water. He took us thru his adolescence, perched on the stoop of 187th and Belmont. We laughed, we laughed harder, we were so quiet you could you could hear a pin...we'll you get it...the audience was absoultely consumed by his performance. In a day an age where I feel standing Os are a little excessive yet sometimes tentative-last night when the curtain fell folks jumpped to their feet and rightly so.
